An Indian made the nation proud in the Academy Awards 2019. The film producer Guneet Monga won the Oscar Award in the Documentary Short Subject category at the 91st Academy Awards ceremony. Her documentary film “Period. End of Sentence” which featured the taboos around menstruation in India.
The film showcases the Indian women fighting against the deeply rooted stigma of menstruation and delving upon the work of real-life ‘Pad Man’ Arunachalam Muruganathan. The film is produced by Monga and her production house Sikhya Entertainment, which also made critically acclaimed films like “The Lunchbox” and “Masaan”.
After Guneet won an Oscar, Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar congratulated her. Priyanka referred the moment as 0the special moments of the evening.
