Leather products seems quiet fancy and exquisite but there’s a long chain of cruelty which is involved in the Leather industry for obtaining the leather. Popularity of leather products is very common in normal people as well as celebrities seeming the hefty price tags which they carry with them for the good looks.
But behind the making of these products is not just precised labour work, but the murder of many voiceless animals who are just being raised to be slaughtered for the fancy leather handbag which you must be carrying or the leather belt or boots you might be wearing now.
PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) keep exposing sufferings of reptiles in farms spread all over the globe. And recently, the organisation released a horrific video exposing the cruelty of one such illegal industry which is being run in Vietnam.
PETA investigated two of such farms where crocodiles were being bred and cruelly maimed for their skin. These farms supply crocodile skins to Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH and “some of the biggest brands,” according to a farm owner.

Workers electroshocked crocodiles then attempted to kill them by cutting into their necks and ramming metal rods down their spines.
The animals shake vigorously as this happens. One crocodile’s leg can be seen raising up after he was cut open. Then workers leave him to bleed out. This killing method has long been shown to be inhumane, and experts have found that crocodilians remain conscious for over an hour after their spinal cord has been severed and their blood vessels cut. A reptile expert who watched footage of the crocodiles being slaughtered said that “the neck incisions would have been very painful and inhumane,” and “There is no probability that these animals ‘died instantly.’”
And after seeing all this and knowing all the facts, if you still choose to buy a fancy leather bag without knowing how it has been made, it will be a disgrace !
