After Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back with Tiku Weds Sheru, another commercial potboiler. The trailer for the movie, which also features Avneet Kaur, was released on Wednesday by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films. It appears that the movie is a comedy set in Mumbai and Bhopal.
Sheru, played by Nawazuddin, is a young artist in this scene, but it is just his “decoy job” because he also “works as a pimp for a local don.” He meets Tiku, who is portrayed by Avneet Kaur, who “lives with her large conservative Muslim family” and marries Sheru in order to leave Bhopal. The pair marries in order to simplify their lives, but they inevitably fall in love.
The film’s YouTube description read “get caught between the chaos of the underworld, drugs, and romance and face one tragedy after the other without any time to deal with their sorrow.”
Despite having a significant age gap, Nawazuddin, 49, and Avneet, 21, are portrayed as a relationship in the film.
The movie is Kangana’s debut endeavour as a producer; the trailer also lists her as the “creative producer.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke about the film and mentioned, “weaves elements of real life struggles that people go through with a unique love story.” He added, “Tiku and Sheru are very different personalities who have a common dream. What excited me about Sheru is that while personifying challenges faced by individuals aspiring to achieve success in the entertainment industry, he is relatable, brings his own set of quirks, and stands out as an endearing character.”
Avneet Kaur averred in a statement, “Working alongside Nawazuddin sir has been an enriching experience as an actor, I learned a lot from him. Although our pairing is unconventional, the audience will see a very beautiful relationship between Tiku and Sheru. They have a shared dream that brings them together; and the film is an exploration of their love and aspirations which audiences will enjoy watching.”
Tiku Weds Sheru will start streaming on Prime Video on June 23.
