UAE urgently urges UN Security Council for a meeting in Gaza

According to diplomats, the United Arab Emirates requested on Saturday that the UN Security Council convene “as soon as possible” in response to Israel’s increased ground operations in Gaza and the cutting off of telecommunications networks.

According to diplomats, the 15-member council may convene as early as Sunday. The UAE has requested a briefing from Philippe Lazzarini, the president of the United Nations organisation that provides help to Palestinians (UNRWA), and Martin Griffiths, the leader of U.N. aid.

According to the head of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), all of the war’s goals are being met by the nation’s armed forces through ground operations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF said in a video message that was earlier today shared on X’s official feed, “A statement from LTG Herzi Halevi–The objectives of this war require a ground operation – the best soldiers are now operating in Gaza.”

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi stated in the video that Israel has to destroy Hamas by launching a significant land attack in the Gaza Strip.
