BJP leader Piyush Goyal is hitting the headlines for his recent statement which is taking everyone by surprise. After Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a statement that millennials are the reason behind the crisis in the auto sector, her colleague Piyush Goyal made an embarrassing gaffe on Einstein. He did so while defending the government’s $5 trillion-economy dream.
While attending a Board of Trade meeting, Piyush said that “Maths didn’t help Einstein discover gravity”. He said so in order to shield the BJP government from the allegations of the economic slowdown.
He was giving the answer to the question that how India will achieve the $5 trillion-dollar economy goal in the coming years. He slammed the GDP calculations made by experts by stating, “Don’t get into the calculations that you see on television…don’t get into those maths. Maths have never helped Einstein discover gravity. If he [Einstein] had only gone through structured formulae and what was past knowledge, I don’t think there would have been any innovation in the world.”
Watch him delivering the bizarre speech here:
Well, the statement of Piyush was not embarrassing not only for the maths things involved but also for his little knowledge as it was not Einstein who discovered gravity but Isaac Newton. Albert Einstein discovered the theory of relativity, summarised by the formula E=mc2.
Also for Piyush Goyal science is incomplete without complex mathematical equations. Also, the calculation of GDP growth helps know the state of the economy and if reforms are needed.
