Beautiful Bollywood actress of the 90s, Urmila Matondkar came to the limelight this year after she joined Congress party to contest Lok sabha elections. Now according to the latest reports, she has recently quits politics. The ‘Rangeela’ actress has cited ‘petty in-house politics’ as one of the reasons for quitting the party, she also accused party of betraying as according to her they leaked their private communication in the media.
While talking to ANI the actress said,“My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.”
In her statement, Urmila said she decided to resign after the party didn’t atke any action regarding her letter in which she had criticised close aides of senior party leader Sanjay Nirupam. She further said in the statement,
“To my utter dismay, the letter containing privileged and confidential communication was conveniently leaked to the media which according to me was an act of blatant betrayal. Needless to say, no one from the party was apologetic or even concerned towards me for the same despite my repeated protests.”
Urmila Matondkar had joined the Congress in March saying she was here to stay and will not leave after the elections. “I am here because I believe in the ideology of Congress and what the party stands for. I have not joined the party for the sake of elections.”
She lost elections and now just after a few months she quits the party, her actions proved wrong to her words she said while she joined Indian National Congress during the 17th Lok Sabha elections.
