Donald Trump could be going into full-scale conflict with Kim Jong-un with a “record low” amount of nuclear warheads. US President, Donald Trump has pledged America to put at the top of list when it comes to nuclear weapons.
But the country’s air force is cutting is land based nuclear missiles for the first time in decade. The nation’s supply of ICBM’s would then drop to 400, falling to its lowest since the height of the cold war in the 1960s.
This is despite the Trump promising that America would never fall behind any country on nuclear power.
“I am the first one that would like to see nobody have nukes, but we’re never going to fall behind any country, even if it’s a friendly country, we’re never going to fall behind on nuclear power. It would be wonderful, a dream would be that no country would have nukes, but if countries are going to have nukes, we’re going to be at the top of the pack.”
Russia and US have a treaty known as ‘New START’ where both countries must limit their nuclear arsenal to equal levels for 10 years.
But New START is a bad deal for the US as Trump hinted that he would withdraw US from the treaty. Heritage Foundation analyst Michaela Dodge agreed with The Donald, stating that the US should be looking to get out of the deal.
She said: “There should be a way to reverse those decreases.”
