The forthcoming movie UT69, starring Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra, will hit theatres on November 3. On Wednesday, the UT69 trailer was released. Raj plays the main character in the movie, which is based on his life. Raj’s stay in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail due to his suspected participation in a case involving pornographic content is partially depicted in the video. In actuality, the trailer begins with “breaking news” of Raj’s 2021 arrest.
Whether it’s being called out as Shilpa Shetty’s spouse or a ‘Bigg Boss competitor’, Raj finds it difficult to cope with the continual mockery from other prisoners and jail staff that inhabit the caravan. At one point in the movie, Raj, who is making his acting debut, is also put in a predicament akin to a stampede.
Raj was taken into custody in July 2021 on suspicion of creating pornographic recordings. In September of the same year, he was released on bond. He was charged with violating the Information Technology Act, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and the Indian Penal Code.
Together with the YouTube teaser, the creators wrote, “UT69 takes a satirical look into the real-life incidents of businessman Raj Kundra’s days spent in Arthur Road jail. He recalls this period as his most difficult time. The film depicts this chapter of his life and is based on a true story.”
About UT69
Raj had teased the release date of his movie UT69 earlier this month with a funny video that included stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui and director Farah Khan. The fact that the movie is based on a factual story was disclosed by Raj. Rumours also circulated that it was being directed by Farah Khan.
But on Wednesday, at the trailer premiere event in Mumbai, it was revealed that the project was directed by ad film director Shahnawaz Ali, dispelling any suspicions. The movie is supported by AA Films, co-produced by THE BIGGER PICTURE FILMS, and produced by SVS Studios.
“This is more than just a movie for me! While it’s a closure of sorts, you will see through my eyes a story about survival, friendships, and relationships inside India’s most notoriously crowded infamous detention centre, also known as Arthur Road Jail,” Raj Kundra mentioned about his maiden film project.
