Two among the most prominent actors in the Tamil cinema business right now are Vetrimaaran and Dhanush. Now, the renowned director and actor are apparently preparing to collaborate for the fifth time on a film with a Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) setting.
In response to a query on the inspiration for his next film Thangalaan (directed by Pa Ranjith), producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green stated to Behindwoods: “Vetrimaaran is set to begin working on a film about KGF with Dhanush in the lead. Vetrimaaran’s film will be based on his research and findings about the area, while Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan will focus on his discoveries. Both films might have certain elements that are similar, but what matters is how they present these things from their respective points of view.”
However, Gnanavel Raja remained mum regarding the Dhanush-Vetrimaaran film, including whether he was a producer or not.
After Polladhavan, Dhanush starred in three more Vetrimaaran films: Aadukalam (2011), Vada Chennai (2018), and Asuran (2019), all of which went on to become important works in the annals of Tamil cinema. Dhanush won the Best Actor National Film Award for his performances in the Vetrimaaran films Aadukalam and Asuran.
The two produced the films Kaaka Muttai (2015) and Visaranai (2015), which both won National Film Awards for Best Children’s Film and Best Feature Film in Tamil, respectively.
Vaadivaasal, which stars Suriya and is directed by Vetrimaaran, is now in pre-production while Dhanush is at present working on Arun Matheswaran’s Captain Miller.
