History Behind Kargil Vijay Diwas Every Indian Should Know

Vijay Diwas Kargil is celebrated every year for the success of Operation Vijay launched during the Kargil war of 1999 with Pakistan. It is celebrated to give the tribute to the Bravehearts of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives for their motherland India.

Vijay Diwas Kargil - A Tribute to the soldiers

Vijay Diwas Kargil celebrated every year on July26 in the Dras area of Kargil sector of Jammu & Kashmir and national capital Delhi at Amar Jawan Jyoti. On this day in 1999, it was declared as the end of the Kargil War. The Kargil war lasted about two months in which 527 soldiers were killed, 1,363 wounded and one captured. It is an honor to the martyrdom of the Indian war heroes. No doubt, only because of the selfless devotion and sacrifice of our soldiers we live peacefully in our homes.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Vijay Diwas Kargil said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us.”
