Actor Vijay Sethupathi is gradually establishing himself in Hindi as well as having a large body of work in Tamil. At a Bollywood Hungama event, the actor allegedly talked to fans about one of his most well-known movies not being nominated for an Oscar.
‘I was shattered, It was politics’
As many may remember, Vijay won awards in 2019 for his performance as Shilpa, a transgender character, in the Tamil film Super Deluxe. His admirers were startled to learn that Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy had been sent to the Oscars instead of the movie they had anticipated being India’s official submission.
He shared at an event, “It was heartbreaking for me and the team of Super Deluxe. I was shattered, but it’s politics. We know that something happened. It’s not because I was in that film. Even if I were not in that film, I would’ve wanted that film to go there. Something happened in between and I don’t want to talk about that. It’s unnecessary.”
