In a surprising move, Anil Kumble has stepped down as coach of the Indian cricket team after a magnificent year. In his time as coach, India dominated world cricket. The Indian team lost only one test match and won 12. The team was also favorite in the ICC Champions Trophy, only losing final against arch-rival Pakistan.

Kumble has refused two weeks extension which was offered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to the News18, BCCI said in a statement, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) confirms that Mr. Anil Kumble has withdrawn his services as the post of the Head Coach for the Senior India Men’s team. While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension of his tenure as Head Coach, Mr. Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach.”
In his tweet, Kumble thanked the whole team and said: “I also wish to thank the innumerable followers and fans of Indian cricket for their continued support. I will remain a well-wisher of a great cricketing tradition of my country forever.”
Kumble has also stated on misunderstandings between captain and him, “I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on.”
Seeing Kumble’s departure in such a manner, we as Indian cricket fans were left a bit heartbroken. Many Twitter users blamed Virat Kohli for this situation and trolled hm brutally.
