WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer says there is a pretty sad reason why actor Evan Peters played the role of Quicksilver in the series.
Wanda Maximoff’s brother was featured in the series and one of the more controversial elements of the series. Particularly because some people hoped that Peters would play the X-Men version of Quicksilver, which he also played in the Fox films. In the end, that was not the case.
A clever reference
Jac Schaeffer tells Empire Magazine that the casting of Evan Peters was mainly a meta-joke. But also a smart way to refer to the way in which your memory can be affected by grief.
“A grief therapist came by, and we did research on grief. A lot of it is about how people remember faces,” Schaeffer began.
The fear of forgetting the faces of your loved one. Remembering them incorrectly, or sometimes actively altering memories as a way to protect yourself. And we thought that by casting Evan [Peters] in the role, we don’t could only show that effect on Wanda, but could also add an extra layer for the audience. “
