Oscar Party: It’s, the Hollywood’s biggest night. Last and most important of all the many film awards, absolutely all of the major actors, actresses and filmmakers are in attendance for the yearly celebration of great movie coupons.
Whether they are winners, nominees, presenters or participants, these stars do it all in priceless and elegant evening dresses… or boring tuxedos with bow ties.
For all of us who regularly watch at home, celebrities really only have one job when they hit the red carpet: to wear clothes and look good in them. Alas, that’s just too important for a handful of celebs unfortunate enough to experience Oscar night’s “wardrobe malfunction”.
California girls will divide their dresses
At the 2017 Oscars, Katy Perry wore a shiny and tasteful asymmetrical Jean Paul Gaultier dress with uneven shoulders and a ripped skirt at floor level – but it got even more torn as the pop star wore it.
As Perry leaned over to watch a live stream of the Oscars while waiting for the post-Oscar party’s Vanity Fair to begin, a photographer snapped an unhappy photo of the singer from behind. In the blink of an eye, the upper part of her dress parted from the lower part of the dress, exposing a few strips of fabric and part of Perry’s behind.
Any other year, Perry’s dress opening would be the most discussed and Googled time of the night, but his fashion has remained relatively obscure as it happened around the same time as the biggest oops of the night. Oscars in history – when La La Land was falsely announced as the top picture winner due to a mix of envelopes.
Blanca Blanco’s naked illusion
Blanca Blanco, star of obscure films like Teen Star Academy, is probably best known for a wardrobe malfunction at the 2017 Academy Awards. She attended her boyfriend, actor John Savage (who starred in acclaimed films at Oscars such as The Deer Hunter and The Godfather: Part III ,) and she arrived in a chic, greenish-yellow room.
The gigantic pieces of fabric on the shoulders and around the neck were eye-catching, but they didn’t distract much from the incredibly high slit in the dress… which revealed Blanco’s swimsuit area. She wasn’t going commando under the dress, but she was wearing a bodysuit that matched her skin color so closely that it seemed like Blanco was flashing everyone on the red carpet.
She had no idea she had revealed her underwear (or more) and made a viral splash until her phone started blowing up during the Academy Awards. “When I was watching the show, people would text me and say, ‘You’re like everywhere, they say you don’t have any underwear,’ Blanco told The Daily Mail. “I am so Gené. “
In a tragic twist of irony, Blanco reportedly wore the dress as the centerpiece of a calculated effort to land on a ‘Best Dressed’ list. After all, her 2015 Oscars costume – a flowing, oddly crafted red and black dress had earned her a spot on more than one “Worst Dressed” list. “I was hoping this year would be different,” she said.
Just when you thought Anne Hathaway couldn’t get any benefits
When you think of “Anne Hathaway” and “Oscar disaster”, you probably think of that time when she hosted the ceremony alongside a sleepy, grumpy-eyed James Franco, but maybe the moment Oscar’s most miserable in Hathaway happened the night she won the 2013 Best Actress Oscar for Les Miserables.
Hathaway walked the red carpet in a pink Prada dress which was quite beautiful and tasteful except that the front seams spread across Hathaway’s chest in a way that emphasized and accentuated her chest.
Oddly enough, this wasn’t the only wardrobe incident Hathaway experienced during this awards season. At the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, her dress strap snapped and the zipper on the dress she wore to the Screen Actors Guild Award nearly gave way.
By George, Elisabetta Canalis is saved!
Remember Elisabetta Canalis? She is a charming and talented Italian actress, but in the United States she is best known as one of the many women condemned to a love affair that George Clooney had to come to terms with before marrying former Amal Alamuddin, human rights lawyer who looks a lot like Anne Hathaway.
Either way, Clooney took Canalis to the 2010 Academy Awards, where he was nominated for his performance in In the Air . Canalis wore an elegant red strapless Roberto Cavalli number… that slit through the back just as she and Clooney were supposed to hit the red carpet. Canalis had brought in famous stylist Jonathan Antin in case of hair fusion, but according to Antin, it was Clooney who saved Canalis from falling out of her dress.
“George said, ‘Wait a second, I have experience with that. I was working on costumes, “honey,” Antin said to the New York Post . It was then that Clooney “grabbed the needle and thread and started sewing his zipper.” He did an incredible job. “
Gwyneth Paltrow meshed
There isn’t much that an Oscar winner, GOOP guru, and conscious decoupler Gwyneth Paltrow have in common with heavy metal legend Glenn Danzig – except that they both chose to wear transparent mesh tops in public.
It makes sense to the “Mother” singer and the Misfits frontman – it’s super “metal.” But Paltrow is decidedly not metal, even though she wore an Alexander McQueen gown with a sheer mesh bodice to the 2002 Oscars. One thing she didn’t wear at this ceremony: a bra.
In 2013, Paltrow apologized on GOOP (via Today ) for the controversial “goth” garment. “There were a few problems; I still love the dress itself but I should have worn a bra, ”Paltrow said. If she could start over, she said she would also style her hair differently and wear less makeup. “Then it would have worked out the way I wanted – a little Oscar punk. “
Judy Greer suffers a killer pearl attack
In 2012, the charming character actress Judy Greer – Kitty Sanchez on Arrested Development – was able to attend the Oscars and mingle with the A-List pantheon of demigods because she had appeared in several nominees in The Descendants. However, it wasn’t the magical Hollywood ball night we were hoping it would be for Greer, and a lot of it was down to her dress.
Greer wore a piece by designer Monique Lhuillier. She described it in her book, I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: A Co-Star’s Confessions (via Vanity Fair ), as “tight, black, and altered to fit all of my curves, and There are many. “
Greer says that literally as she walked the red carpet, someone accidentally stepped on the hem of the dress resulting in a quick loosening, untangling and scattering of the silver beaded band. which adorned the front of the garment. Greer added that she “was starting to get stomped on because I couldn’t move because my publicist was on all fours in front of me trying to sew my dress back on and keep more beads from falling all over the place with the little kit. of sewing she kept in her bag. “
Oscar night: ruined. “I stopped for pictures but couldn’t do an interview,” said Greer. “I was scared if I opened my mouth to speak, I was crying, because I was sobbing inside. “
Emma Stone and the Unexpected Virtue of Underwear
Emma Stone attended the 2015 Oscars as the first nominee for her role as a recovering drug addict in best film winning Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). She didn’t win that night (bowing to Patricia Arquette in Childhood ), but she made quite a few “Best Dressed Oscars” lists for her delicate, green and sequined Elie Saab Haute Couture gown which seemed to be made from the finest diamond studded seaweed the oceans had to offer.
But Stone’s dress would put it on other lists as well… like this collection of unfortunate and almost profane woes from the Oscar dress here. This dress was so light and airy – and sported a large slit that went all the way to the thigh – that Stone briefly revealed her flesh-colored underwear to various photographers and matching red carpet watchers.
The one time Oprah made a mistake
This news can come as a shock: Oprah Winfrey is an imperfect human being. Sure, she’s over 99.9% of all people, but she’s a deadly woman who sometimes makes bad decisions. In 1986, Winfrey attended her first Oscars, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Color Purple. Before the big night, Winfrey didn’t do the one thing everyone knows you’re supposed to do with clothes: try them on.
As she recounted in a post-2012 Oscars edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live (via Access), Winfrey called the 1986 Oscars “one of the most horrible nights of my life.” She had used a seamstress known for her work with Dolly Parton, “and he had come to [do] some fits earlier in the day,” after which he took the dress away for some touch-ups. When he brought it back, Winfrey didn’t try it again.
“So when I went to put it on half an hour before going to the Oscars, it didn’t fit,” she said. She couldn’t pull it over her hips, so her hairdresser “had to lay me on the floor and push my butt down and zip up.” Winfrey had to lie down in the limo that took her to the ceremony, then sit rigidly all night at the Oscars. “I was praying that someone else would win,” said Winfrey, “because I knew I couldn’t get out of the chair. “
