In 2015, 2 films based on the real Psychological Experiments came out. The first film was Experimenter and the second was The Stanford Experiment. The story of these films are based on two real psychological tests and their results. The results of these tests were so amazing that they shook the pre-existing beliefs and both these tests became the subject of much discussion and debate for many years to come.
Experimenter
In this experiment, some people were invited to participate in a psychological experiment. The invitee in a room was seated in front of an electrical switchboard and given a list of questions and solutions.
Now he was introduced to a person who was part of the team of Psychologist. After meeting the team person used to sit in another closed cabin, so that the invited person could not see him but could hear his voice.
The invitee is told that the person locked in the cabin has been attached to the front switchboard and you have to ask him the answer to the question. On the wrong answer, you have to press the switchboard so that the person in the cabin will get a light electric shock. As we progress further in the list, the intensity of the electric shock will increase with the wrong answer.
Psychologists were monitoring the activities of this room from a secret place. Actually, the person in the cabin did not feel any shock, he was just sitting there and running a record filled with pain and scream.
This experiment led to the startling results that many women, men who seem to be very kind and gentle, can actually be cruel under the influence of pressure and circumstance. Many such people, who are hard-hearted to look at, despite hearing pressure and influence, make the right decision by listening to their conscience and show a sense of compassion. How some people blindly follow the orders of their seniors / owners and the same people walk according to their discretion.
The Standard Experiment
This experiment was made to know about the behavior of prisoners and jail personnel and their psychological condition. It took some students from Stanford College. An experimental prison was built in the college itself.
Jail guards and prisoners were made according to the wishes of the students. After this, the prisoner boys were put in their jail and the guard boys were asked to monitor them and behave like a prison guard.
Initially everyone felt that this test was not going to make any specific decision, but after 1-2 days of experiment, the circumstances changed rapidly and the mental state of the students participating in this experiment was such a surprising and serious change that this experiment had to stop in between.
In this experiment, it was seen how some people maintain their mental balance even in the most difficult situations and remain optimistic while others lose courage in the same conditions. This experiment also shows how the behavior of the surrounding environment, and people has a profound effect on us.
