It eventually took James Cameron thirteen years to deliver the first sequel to Avatar in 2009. Of course, everyone involved in that film hopes that similar success will be achieved. But whether that happens is up to the public.
Cameron hopes that five films will eventually appear in the series. He said this in conversation with Empire Magazine. Only with five films can he tell the whole story.
Part 4 will be a ‘motherf*cker’
“Everything I have to say about family, about sustainability, about climate, about the natural world, the themes that are important to me in real life and in my cinematic life, I can put on this canvas. say,” Cameron says of the need he sees to make the many sequels.
“I got more and more excited as I progressed. Movie four is a corkscrew. It’s a motherfu*ker. I really hope I make it,” said the 67-year-old filmmaker. “But it depends on the forces in the market. Three is already done, so it will come anyway. I really hope we can make four and five because, in the end, it’s one big story.”
Avatar 4 is scheduled for December 2026. So in December this year Avatar: The Way of the Water.
