AR Rahman inherits music from his father. His father’s name was Rajagopal Kulasekharan. Rahman’s father died on 30 September 1976. He was a musician. At the time of his father’s death, AR Rahman was just 9 years old and due to his father’s untimely departure, Rahman also faced financial crisis.

Rehman had decided to convert from Hindu to Muslim in view of these conditions. Rahman married Saira Banu in the year 1995. they have three children. Two daughters Khatija and Rahima while one son AR Amin.
