Eternals director Kumail Nanjiani and Chloe Zhao are still working hard on the editing of the large-scale adventure film. The film is one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects to date and little has been revealed about it.
Eternals should have been released in November 2020, was then moved to February 2021 and is now finally on the schedule for November 2021. This seems to actually happen, because Disney has set its release schedule for this year.
The film is one of Marvel’s most mysterious projects because we simply don’t know what to expect from it.
There is certainly potential if you just look at the cast: Richard Madden , Angelina Jolie , Kumail Nanjiani , Ma Dong-seok , Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington and Gemma Chan play the lead roles. Diversity is also central to the film; the character Phastos is the first openly gay character in the MCU.
A long process
Dylan Tichenor, the editor of Eternals, has now announced that Zhao has not yet finished the film. Tichenor describes the editing process as an intimate collaboration, in which they both learn a lot from each other. Zhao was not involved in the first cut of the film, but now that she has a version, she still puts some big points on the ‘i’.
