Woman Died During Abortion And 19 Aborted Female Foetuses Found Dumped In Maharashtra’s Sangli

In a horrendous incident in Maharashtra’s Sangli district – at least nineteen aborted female foetuses were dumped. Maharashtra Police unearthed a female foeticide racket, when the Police were probing a case linked to a death of pregnant woman during her abortion.

The pregnant woman was admitted at the private hospital of Dr Babasaheb Khidrapure in Miraj. Sunil Jadhav, father of the 26-year-old pregnant woman, registered the complaint against his son-in-law and the doctor after her daughter died on February 28.

Maharashtra Police reached the stream in Mhaisal village, during the investigation, and found at least 19 foetuses wrapped in a plastic bags. The bags were removed with the help of JCB.

Superintendent of Sangli police, Dattatray Shinde said, “These foetuses were aborted and buried with an intention of disposing them off. Some foetuses were found in a decomposed state, while bones and flesh in some plastic bag.”

Pravin Jamdade, victim’s husband, had taken her wife to the hospital for abortion as she was pregnant with a girl child for the third time. The doctor sent the victim to city’s prestigious hospital after she died during abortion.

However, on March 3, after the post-mortem, the victim’s angry parents cremated the body in front of the husband’s residence. Victim’s parents have registered the case against Jamdade and the doctor. The Police stated that the doctor is on the run.
