Yogi Adityanath: “If I Cannot Stop Namaz On Road, I Have No Right To Stop Janmashtami Celebrations In Police Stations”

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that “If he cannot stop the offering of Namaz on road,  he has no right to stop Janmashtami celebrations in Police Stations.”

According to The Indian Express, Yogi said: “Agar mai sadak par Eid ke din namaz padhne pe rok nahi laga sakta to mujhe koi adhikar nahi ki mai thano mein janmashtami ke parv ko rokun… koi adhikar nahi.”

The Chief Minister was speaking at an event organized by the Lucknow Jansanchar Evam Patrakarita Sanstha and Prerna Jansanchar Evam Shidh Sansthan, Noida he said: “I asked if this was a Kanwar yatra or a funeral procession. If they don’t play music and drums, don’t dance and sing, don’t use the mike, how will it be a Kanwar yatra.”

He further added that in India everyone has the freedom to celebrate the festivals. He will speak for everyone regardless of the caste and religion.
