Coronavirus New Variant: Omicron (B.1.1.529), a new variant of the corona virus in South Africa, has raised concerns in countries around the world. It is feared that this variant can give air to the epidemic once again. Apart from South Africa, this variant has also been identified in Belgium, Botswana, Hong Kong, Israel and other countries. You must know some important things about this. First of all, no case has been confirmed in India so far.

2. There is a matter of concern. The reason is that WHO has described Omicron in technical terminology as Variant of Concern (VoC) i.e. ‘Variants of Concern’. The WHO has warned that this is a very fast and large number of mutating variants. Therefore, the risk of infection can increase due to this mutation.

3. According to the researchers, this variant is spreading 7 times faster than Delta. The spread of its infection from one person to another is also more than that of Delta Variant. This new variant of Corona has been mutated 32 times even before its identification. Experts have feared the arrival of the third wave from this variant. Study on this is still going on.

4. Special or different symptoms have not been found in those infected with this variant. According to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) of South Africa, so far no unusual symptoms have been reported after infection with the B.1.1.1.529 variant. NICD has definitely said about some asymptomatic patients. However, not many studies have been done about the new variants yet.
5. The most important thing is that we should not be careless at all. WHO has asked to increase vigilance and strengthen public health services. Along with this, it has been advised to take all precautionary measures in marriage or other functions, festivals and crowded events. The WHO has warned that the sooner the protective measures are implemented, the less restrictions countries will have to implement.
