Yusuf Pathan has signed a deal with Kowloon Cantons for the second edition of Hong Kong Twenty20 league on Saturday. He will be the first Indian cricketer to play in an overseas franchise based T20 league. The league is scheduled to run from March 8 to 12.
Yusuf Pathan is the third big signing for Kowloon after Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and England’s Tymal Mills, according to an ESPNcricinfo report.
Other signings for the four-team league include Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan, West Indies’ Darren Sammy, New Zealand’s James Franklin and the former South Africa off-spinner Johan Botha.
According to the report, Pathan has confirmed receiving NOC (Non Objection Certificate) from both the BCCI as well as the Baroda Cricket Association.
Tim Cutler, chef executive of cricket Hong Kong thanked BCCI for clearing Yusuf participation. He was quoted saying, “This is amazing news and we are very appreciative of the BCCI in granting this NOC (Non Objection Certificate)”.
