Zaira Wasim, the Dangal movie star, who portrayed the role of young Geeta Phogat in the film Dangal wins National Award. She wins the National Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress. However, she became popular right after the film got released and even more popular when she posted an apology letter on social media and then deleting it suddenly.
She came into limelight and became the Internet sensation after that. She got criticized by the Kashimiris for debuting career in the Bollywood cinema and also about her meet with the CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti. They also accused her of misleading the Kashmiri youth. She then wrote an apology letter and urged in front of the Kashmiri people to not to follow her footsteps. This whole episode mired her in a big controversy that grabbed the eyeballs of the whole nation.
The twist in the story is, she was awarded by the jury at the 64th National Film Awards, announced here on Friday. On her winning she said,
“I am extremely happy. I would like to thank the jury for conferring on me this honour. My heartfelt gratitude to my family for believing in me and to Aamir Sir and Nitish Sir for supporting me. It is very encouraging to receive an award of this stature in my debut film, the appreciation has only got me more excited to work harder.”
Now, why is she happy? she was not proud of her work as she wrote in her apology letter. She was shameful of what she did. So why on winning the National Award for the same work she is feeling honored and happy? These things are away from our mind. We are totally confused to understand that.
No doubt! she like to pursue her career in cinema but scares to be a victim of religious persecution. All we want from her is to follow her dreams irrespective of what people say until then she is not doing anything wrong. Stop this religious persecution and let people breathe freely.
