After Marriage, This Popular Bollywood Actress Decided Not to Become a Mother

Many actors and actresses in the Bollywood industry are famous for the unique characters that they portrayed in the films. These characters became audience favourite. One of them is the character of an actor’s mother. In the 90s movies, there was a special focus on the character of a mother. It was a powerful role. Popular mothers of Bollywood are Nirupa Roy, Rakhi, Fareeda Jalal, Reema Lagoo, Aruna Irani etc.

Today we will talk about Aruna Irani. Her motherly roles in films like Beta, Doodh Ka Karz, Raja Babu are quite famous among the Indian audience. Before playing these aged roles, she has been the hottest actresses in Bollywood in the 70s era. Aruna debuted in Bollywood in 1961. She played the lead role in 1972 film Bombay to Goa opposite Amitabh Bachchan. It was a hit film.

Aruna got married at the age of 40. In an interview, she said that she was 40 when she met Sandesh Kohli. He was the director of her film. That time, Aruna was thinking to marry someone but Sandesh didn’t let that happen. He fell in love with her. But he was already married and had kids. However, even then they got married in 1990.

After marriage, Aruna decided not to become a mother. In an old interview, she said that when she sees her nephews and nieces behaving nasty and disrespecting the guests, it bothers her. That’s why she doesn’t want any child.

Aruna did more than 300 films in her career and a number of TV shows. She was last seen in 2010 film Khatta Meetha.
