Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan actors Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia appeared as guests on the dance reality show on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 10, exclusive Diwali celebration episode. In the recently launched promo of the episode the duo is seen reminiscing their dialogues of the hit serial Ramayana.
The video features Dipika Chikhlia touching Arun Govil’s feet as a gesture of respect. Ram aka Arun asks Dipika about the gesture to which she addresses him as ‘parmeshwar (supreme god).’ She then approached Shri Ram to give her some advice i.e., updesh an identified her as his daasi.
Arun in the garb of Ram responds, “Mera pehla updesh yeh hai ki meri daasi ban kar nahi rehna. Meri aardhangini, mitra, sakha aur sathi ban kar mere sath jaye (My first request is that you shouldn’t be my slave. But, stay with me as my better half, a friend and a companion).” He then reaffirmed, “Ram ke jeevan me kabhi koi dusri stree nahi ayegi (There will be only one woman in Ram’s life).”
The trio, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Nora Fatehi (judges of the dancing program) gazed in awe of the chemistry between the two actor. Fans showered their recation to the clip, a fan commented “Superb..dil ko kuch sukoon sa mila Ramayan ka ye scene dekhkar bahut din ho gaye (Feels peaceful it has been quite sometime that I haven’t watched Ramayan)” “No special effects, no tam-jham…. Still felt the divine romance,” wrote another fan.
Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia rose to stardom with their epic roles as Shri Ram and Sita in the epic serial Ramayana. The show was directed, produced and helmed by Ramanand Sagar in 1987.
