Dia Mirza recently revealed that she has had better acting opportunities as she has gotten older. She claimed that at the age of 40, she never imagined she would be able to perform roles like this because it is assumed that women only have a limited window of opportunity in their careers. Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001), in which she starred alongside R Madhavan, marked the debut of the former Miss India and Miss Asia Pacific International.
In Dhak Dhak, the actress will appear with Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanjana Sanghi in an all-female cast. They portray four women who set out to travel to the world’s highest motorable pass while learning a few things about themselves in the process. The drama is produced by Taapsee Pannu under the banner of Outsiders Films and directed by Tarun Dudeja.
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Dia shared, “As a woman, I don’t think I would have ever thought that I will get some of the best parts to play of my life after I hit 40. When you are younger, you are made to believe that you have a short life. There is always this clock ticking.”
In addition to Dhak Dhak, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, is also rumoured to feature Dia. She previously collaborated with the filmmaker on the films Sanju and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
