Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 is a sequel from 2010, a film that showcased subjects like sex tapes, unusual love stories, and honor killing. This time Dibakar Banerjee came up with the problems caused by social media and the online world in its second installment. As the movie is out now let’s check out the reviews.
Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2: Script
It’s important for the audience to feel connected and interested in the movie. Unfortunately, this seems to be missing in most of Dibakar Banerjee’s movies. In the previous installment of Love Sex Aur Dhokha, the film was only appealing to a specific group. But in the second part, the problem is even worse. Instead of making the story clear and engaging, the script makes it confusing and overdramatic. It’s like trying to teach someone about the dangers of drugs by actually giving them drugs to try!
The most noticeable part is that the movie is filled with random scenes from webcams, TV shows, and videos that don’t make much sense and don’t resonate with the audience. Some movies do better when watched at home rather than in theaters. But in this case, it doesn’t work well anywhere. Although the film tackles serious issues like transgender rights, unfortunately, it doesn’t do it very well. Attempts at irony, humor, and satire, are there but they fall flat. As Subhash Ghai said, it’s the script that makes or breaks a movie. This script tries to tell different stories in three parts: “Love,” “Sex,” and “Dhokha.” In the first part, a transgender person named Noor is on a strange reality show with their mother, leading to a big argument among the judges. The “Sex” part focuses on another transgender person named Kullu, who faces assault and exploitation. Finally, the last part follows a gamer who gets more than he bargained for.
Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2: Star Performance
The three actors Mouni Roy, Anu Malik, and Swastika Mukherjee did well in their roles, which is impressive. They probably got some help from the director and training sessions. Mouni Roy played her role as the host perfectly, not overdoing it. Among the judges, Anu Malik (listed as Anu Sardar Malik in the movie) stands out because he gets to do some funny scenes. Swastika Mukherjee did a good job too, and the other actors did fine with their roles, even if they didn’t have much screen time.
Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2: Direction and Music
As said by Subhash Ghai a script is something that makes or breaks a story. And LSD2 is the perfect example. Instead of making you feel good or teaching you something, the way the story is told might just give you a headache. Without any clear plan, Dibakar Banerjee is trying too hard to be different and new. But in movies, that people pay to watch, it’s not right to confuse or trick the audience. The reason why the audience comes to see his movies is because they like unique stories or want to see what’s latest and not to be fooled. Coming to the songs: “Gandi taal” sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is worth appreciating, but it’s a bit too bold. However, it has a nice tune.
