Jia Qi missed the opportunity to compete in Miss Universe 2023 due to missing out on pre-finale competitions. Know the reason that led her to withdraw her name from the contest.

The excitement for Miss Universe 2023 is building up. And the contestants from all over the globe are ready to represent themselves on stage. But sadly, 23-year-old Chinese beauty Qi Jia won’t be gracing the stage this year. Representing your country in the global beauty platform is a dream come true for many models. However, sometimes the control is not in our hands as unforeseen challenges even force the brightest stars to take a step back. One of them is Qi Jia, the Chinese representative, who will not be able to grace the stage due to visa problems. An unavoidable hurdle we can say.
This year the 72nd edition of Miss Universe will take place in El Salvador’s José Adolfo Pineda Arena from November 15-18. As this month began, all the contestants, arrived in El Salvador. Unfortunately, visa issues caused a delay in Qi Jia’s arrival, making her miss crucial pre-finale competitions. Consequently, she had to step down from being the representative for this year’s Miss Universe.
Taking to Instagram on November 15, the Miss Universe China organization’s Instagram page posted a statement, explaining that Qi Jia wouldn’t be participating in Miss Universe 2023 due to visa complications. Despite the organizing committee and Qi Jia swiftly completing visa procedures upon understanding the schedule, the late issuance of her visa led to her missing out on various competition activities. Later there was also an announcement assuring that Qi Jia’s journey doesn’t end here. China will be proudly represented by the 2023 Miss Universe China in the Miss Universe 2024 competition the following year.
