Suneel Darshan has again spilled the beans about is long litigation with Sunny Deol. The filmmaker and the actor have locked their horns in a legal scuffle for more than 25 years over the film Ajay released in 1996. In a recent interview, Suneel said that Sunny ‘fooled’ him and also accused the latter to have a ‘massive ego‘.
The feud is seen since 1996 when the film Ajay helmed by the filmmaker was in the making and the actor left the film incomplete after filming few sequence and then backed off from filming the ending. Suneel claimed that he release the film with no ending which managed to garner moderate success at the box office.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Suneel said, “Sunny Deol had a massive ego. 26 years later, my litigation with him is still on. First, he promised to return the money. Then he said he had no money so I must make a film with him. There was a retired Chief Justice of India, Justice Bharucha, before whom this matter was put. Sunny said he didn’t have liquidity to return my amount so he would do a film for me. I was working with his brother (Bobby Deol), did three movies with him back-to-back. I had no grudges with him. I thought galti koi bhi karke sudhar sakta hai (Anyone can repent after making a mistake). But, he fooled me.”
The filmmaker claimed that the actor kept postponing the shooting dates due to which the period stated in the contract has passed. Post this the legal team of the filmmaker sent a notice to the actor to ehich Sunny’s legal team told that the film’s dialouge has not been approved by the actor yet. “I was not supposed to get the dialogue approved by him. Has any actor ever approved dialogue? The intention was wrong, which was excruciating. A lot of money was involved and a lot of time. Then he took me on a long goose chase, which is still on. You know the legal system,” added Suneel.
Sunny last appeared in R Balki’s directorial Chup, launched this year.
