Matilda, 45, has carved a niche for herself among personalities like banker Arundhati Bhattacharya and actress Rasika Duggal.

Matilda is working in Gargadbahal village of Baragaon tehsil here. Their journey so far has been full of struggles and difficulties. Sometimes people used to make fun of his advice and his words. At the same time, now give them respect.

What did Matilda do for the villagers, how much change did she bring to the village and why did she get a place in Forbes, know the answers to these questions…

Matilda Kullu’s goal is to keep the villagers healthy

Matilda’s day begins at 5 in the morning. After taking care of the cattle and taking care of the hearth of the house, they leave the house to keep the people of the village healthy. Matilda reaches every nook and corner of the village by bicycle.

It is part of their work to go door-to-door in the village to vaccinate newborns and adolescent girls, to conduct pre- and post-delivery examinations of women. Apart from this, it is also their job to prepare for the birth of the child, to give information about every necessary precaution, to advise the villagers to keep away from HIV and other infections. Matilda is carrying out this responsibility with full dedication.

People used to joke about Matilda

Matilda says, the initial journey has been a struggle because people here did not go to the hospital when they were ill. When I used to ask them to get treatment from the hospital, they used to make fun of me. As time passed, people understood my point. Now the villagers have become aware of their health. Every minor ailment reaches the hospital for treatment.

Matilda had to struggle more in the village because people used to resort to black magic instead of going to the hospital for treatment. Changing this mindset of the people has been quite a challenge for Matilda. Due to the efforts of Matilda, the social curse like black magic in the village could be eradicated from the root. Forbes included her in the list of the world’s most powerful women because of her contribution to bringing this big change in the village and keeping people healthy.

Matilda says, due to the worsening of the situation in Corona Hall, the responsibility had increased. Every day 50 to 60 patients with symptoms of corona used to go to their homes for examination, but the bigger challenge was to make people aware about taking the vaccine. When the vaccine was started in the village, the villagers were barely persuaded to get it injected. Gradually people were made aware of this. Matilda says, for me nothing is more important than the service of the villagers.
