After winning the hearts of Indian audiences the release of Vikrant’s film 12th Fail in China is fetching attention. The film is gearing up for its release across 20,000 screens.

12th Fail broke all the records as it turned out to be the most successful film of 2023even though it didn’t earn much when it first hit Indian theaters. But it is now gearing up for a wide release in China, which will bring in big bucks. Spilling the beans in a recent interview. The lead actor Vikrant Massey shared that the movie will be released on a whopping 20,000 screens across China.
Talking to India Today he said “It has been in the works for a few months, but finally the news is out, and everyone knows that the film is releasing in China. There is a huge demand for Hindi cinema or Indian cinema in China. There are more than 20,000 screens given to 12th Fail in China. China caters to the entertainment sector and hence the numbers [of screens],”
He was asked if he would hop over to China to hype the movie. To which Vikrant said, “It’s a bit early to decide, but I’m pumped. It’s been a while since something this exciting happened.” “12th Fail” didn’t get a big release in India but still managed to bag Rs 56.75 crore domestically, according to Bollywood Hungama. On its debut day, it had about 1,347 screenings across India. Considering its small budget, this was a big win. Later, it also streamed on Hotstar and got tons of love on social media. Even after 25 weeks, it’s still showing in Indian cinemas. Completing 6 months in theatre.
It will be exciting to see how the film will do in China. Earlier Bollywood films like Dangal, Secret Superstar, and PK have done incredible business in China in the past. According to Bollywood Hungama, “Dangal” made $196.89 million, “Secret Superstar” minted $118.24 million, and “PK” earned $116.6 million there. Indian movies got the boot from China in 2020 due to tensions between the countries, but the ban was lifted in 2022 with the release of Sushant Singh Rajput’s “Chhichhore.”
