Life is all about the roller coaster ride. There are times when people enjoy fame and money. However, there is also the downside. That’s exactly what happened with the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan long back in the 1990s when he faced a severe financial crisis. His company was deep in debt, and his personal finances had hit rock bottom. It was during that time when the late Dhirubhai Ambani extended a helping hand to the iconic actor. In 2017, at an event celebrating four decades of the Reliance Foundation, Amitabh Bachchan delivered a heartfelt speech, recalling Dhirubhai Ambani’s kindness during his hour of need.
In an old video shared by Bollywood Tehelka, Amitabh Bachchan revealed, “There was a period in my life when I faced financial ruin. The company I had established incurred losses, and I was burdened with debts. My personal bank balance had dwindled to nothing. All my income streams had dried up, and the government had even conducted a raid at my home.”
For those unaware Big B had launched the company Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited in the 1990s, but the venture failed, leaving the Bachchan family in significant debt. Narrating Dhirubhai Ambani’s act of kindness, Amitabh Bachchan mentioned how the business magnate realized it. And told his younger son, Anil Ambani, saying, “He’s going through a tough time, give him some financial assistance.” Amitabh Bachchan was deeply moved when Anil Ambani approached him with the offer. He shared, “Whatever he could have provided would have resolved all my financial troubles. I was overwhelmed by his generosity but declined the offer. Thankfully, fate smiled upon me, and after some challenging days, my fortunes turned. I began receiving work, and gradually, I managed to repay all my debts.”
Amitabh Bachchan Recalled How Dhirubhai Ambani supported him
Amitabh Bachchan also revealed that he was also invited to Dhirubhai Ambani’s home for a special occasion. Although he felt a bit awkward Dhirubhai Ambani insisted on sitting with him. In front of the guests present there, Dhirubhai Ambani made a touching statement in front of all the guests saying “This young man had fallen, but he stood up on his own. I respect him for that.” And
these words of Dhirubhai Ambani’s words and generosity held more value to the actor than the financial assistance offered to him.
