After noticing the hike in the number of cases related to the Omicron variant, the government wants more and more people to get vaccinated, in Austria. As it wants to avoid another lockdown. Now for this, they came up with the clever idea for encouraging people to get vaccinated. Yes, that’s true because on Thursday it was announced that they will introduce a national lottery to those who are vaccinated. Currently, around 72% of Austria’s population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and is considered as the lowest rate in western Europe.
So what is the vaccination lottery that Austria has introduced?
According to Chancellor Karl Nehamme, The lottery will be for the vaccinated and will offer 500 euro ($568) handouts which will be valid for hotels, restaurants, and other services. Well, that’s a good idea to make the people vaccinated as much as possible. Not only this but the Municipalities will also get progressive state grants as soon vaccination rates increases to, 85% and 90%, Nehammer also expressed that he wanted there to be a financial reward as well for those who get fully vaccinated. And no doubt that this is the smart way to make it mandatory for people to get vaccinated as much as possible.
Talking about the tickets. Members of the public will get a ticket for each shot, and those who are done with the booster shot will get three tickets in total. According to the rule, every tenth ticket will be eligible for a 500 euro ($568) gift voucher. On the other hand, it was decided that the fine of 600 euros, to 3,600 euros will also be charged for those not vaccinated. Perhaps, with this Austria has become the first country in the European Union country who has made the vaccination mandatory for all adults and will come into effect on February 1.
