Kanye West’s history of controversy inevitably comes back to haunt him. The American superstar is in the news because former Donda Academy teachers are suing him. According to a People article, Cecilia Hailey and her daughter Chekarey Byers, two female teachers who were let go from West’s school, filed a complaint on Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The ex-teachers claim that West’s school employed instructors who lacked proper training in basic life support techniques and that there was a serious safety concern involving the children that frequently resulted in bullying. Additionally, a school nurse and janitorial personnel were reportedly absent from the school.
At least three times, according to Hailey and Byers, Moira Love, the director/principal of Donda Academy, was made aware of the flaws and infractions. But as a result of their complaints, they were let go.
They have also claimed in the lawsuit that they experienced racial discrimination and that their wages were frequently withheld. According to ABC 7, the ladies are requesting damages of more than $1 million for lost pay and emotional suffering.
“Additionally, throughout the entirety of Plaintiffs’ employment, the only lunch available for students was sushi, every single day. Students were not allowed to bring any outside food or anything other than water. It was widely known that West spends $10,000.00 a week on sushi,” the lawsuit further alleges.
“Things were just chaotic. There was no order, they didn’t have some curriculum,” Hailey mentioned while speaking to ABC 7 Los Angeles in a recent interview.
