Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni had a heartwarming reunion after the recent IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The game was a real treat for the fans at Chepauk, as CSK put up a strong performance to beat KKR, securing their third win of the season. But the real magic happened when MS Dhoni, the former CSK captain, walked into bat with just three runs needed. The crowd went wild, cheering for him.
After CSK’s victory, there was another touching moment when Dhoni and his former India teammate, Gautam Gambhir, shared a warm hug. Gambhir, who now mentors KKR, was in the opposing team’s dugout as he watched his former captain lead CSK to victory.
Before the match, Gambhir praised Dhoni and called him a successful captain in Indian cricket history. He said “MS is probably the most successful captain India will ever have. I don’t think anyone can ever reach that level, winning three ICC trophies. People can win overseas, people can win as many Test matches, but it cannot get bigger than three ICC trophies,” Gambhir himself had a memorable partnership with Dhoni during the 2011 ODI World Cup final against Sri Lanka. Gambhir scored 97 runs while Dhoni stayed unbeaten at 91, helping India clinch the title.

Gambhir also said “In the IPL, I enjoyed every bit of it because I knew that MS had that tactical mindset,” Despite being rivals in the IPL, Gambhir always enjoyed playing against Dhoni. He admired Dhoni’s tactical brilliance and ability to control the game, especially against spinners. Gambhir appreciated Dhoni’s calmness and confidence, knowing that if Dhoni was at the crease, anything was possible, even needing 20 runs in just one over.
Currently, the news about both cricket legends is making rounds as they came together and shared such special moments. This reminds us of the incredible journey they together had on the cricket field.
