This weekend, Avatar takes back the all-time top box office position from Avengers: Endgame . The James Cameron film is currently showing again in China and the re-release attracts a lot of Chinese to the silver screen.
Avatar will be the first film ever to pass the 2.8 billion mark. Marvel Studios and directors Anthony and Joe Russo were also in the know and sported enough to congratulate Cameron.

Marvel Studios had Endgame ‘s movie logo faded out by Avatar’s, and the Russos used a design by renowned online designer Bosslogic. “Passing the gauntlet back to you … @jamescameronofficial,” the directors write with the image.
Endgame could also get a re-release in China, but it doesn’t seem that it will perform better than Avatar which is probably less fresh in the memory.
