What we most and usually read about Bollywood actresses? Obviously about their beauty, their dressing sense, fashion and style. Today on January 31, she is celebrating her 44th birthday and we will tell you about a lesser-known fact about her.
Yes, the bubbly-dimply actresses once set an example of immense bravery that only a few people can do in their lives. It was in 2001 when Preity Zinta registered a testimony against the underworld don Chhota Shakeel in the court. Actually, it was about her film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, when the reports stated that the underworld don had put his money in the film production. However, on the documents, the name of the financer was mentioned as Bharat Shah who was a diamond merchant.
Police had also arrested Bharat Shah in the case. All the prints of the film were also got sealed. However, even then the police needed witnesses. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan and along with film’s starcast including Rani Mukherji, Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and other had filed a complaint that they are receiving death threats from the underworld.
But when they were asked to say the same in the court they all turned hostile and retracted their earlier statements. But unlike several of her colleagues in the film industry, actor Preity Zinta stuck to her earlier statement of receiving threatening calls from the underworld. The actress said that she received a call from a man who said, “Main bhai ka aadmi Razak bol raha hoon aur mujhe 50 lakh chahiye, Nahi diye to anjaam bura hoga.”
Zinta is the first film personality to have supported the prosecution in the Bharat Shah case. She said she got very scared but the way she stood up with so much courage against an underworld don really makes her a strong woman.
