The funeral of Phillip of Edenburgh will be next Saturday, April 17. At Windsor Castle. It will be a ceremony that can only be attended by 30 people personally chosen by his wife, Queen Elizabeth ii since that is the maximum limit allowed by the United Kingdom according to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. A regulation that will cause many of the duke’s loved ones to be unable to say goodbye to him. Among them, are the great-grandchildren that he was able to enjoy in recent years.

It is precisely for this reason, to make up for this lack, that Buckingham wanted the little ones to be part of the unexpected posthumous tribute that the Royal Family has just paid to Felipe on social networks: by publishing an unpublished photo of the Duke with 7 of his 10 great-grandchildren taken back in 2018. The author of this family portrait is Kate Middleton who managed to reunite the little ones with Felipe and Elizabeth II during a vacation at Balmoral Castle, the residence where the queen and prince moved every summer to spend a few months on vacation.
In addition to the monarch and her husband, in the image we can see Prince Louis , then just a baby, sitting on his great-grandmother’s lap while his brothers, Prince George and Princess Charlotte , stand on either side of the queen.
To his right, Felipe de Edimburgo also poses seated in the armchair with Isla Phillips, who smiles at the camera while playing with her little cousin, Lena Tindall, while the older, Mia Tindall, copies the position of her cousin Jorge on the other side of the photo preferring to be portrayed standing. Finally, the oldest of all the great-granddaughters, Savannah Phillips, appears from behind the couch between her great-grandparents.
Obviously, by dates in the image do not appear the other great-grandchildren who were born after it was taken: and that is Archie, son of Harry and Meghan Markle.
