Vladimir Putin and Yevgeny Prigozhin on diplomatic talks over Bakhmut issue? Here are the details

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian paramilitary group, claimed that the Russian army had made him “a promise” of extra ammunition. Following a warning by Yevgeny Prigozhin to withdraw his Wagner forces from Bakhmut, this happened.

“They promised to give us all the ammunition and armaments we need to continue the operations,” Yevgeny Prigozhin averred criticising Russian military authority over the adverse situation in Bakhmut.

The crux of Ukraine’s conflict with Russian soldiers has been Bakhmut. Russian forces have attacked Bakhmut under the leadership of the Wagner group. The Wagner head threatened to “pull out Wagner units from Bakhmut because in the absence of ammunition they are facing a senseless death” and claimed that they had been guaranteed “that everything necessary will be provided” to fighters in the area of Bakhmut.

Yevgeny Prigozhin threatened to leave Bakhmut in previous instances, and on Friday he did so again in a video message that featured harsh condemnation of the organisers of Russia’s effort in Ukraine on a personal level.

Yevgeny Prigozhin had declared that he would withdraw his fighters on May 10 in the absence of additional assistance “and withdraw Wagner units to rear camps to lick our wounds”.

From now on, General Sergei Surovikin will take “all decisions concerning Wagner’s military operations in cooperation with the defence ministry,” he added.
