According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin expects that the incoming US president will be “more constructive,” as reported by NBC News. He asserted that Vladimir Putin is open to working with “anyone who will understand that from now on, you have to be more careful with Russia and you have to take into account its concerns” and that the White House needs to recognize the “importance of the dialogue.”
Dmitry Peskov claimed that Donald Trump’s claim that he could put an end to the Russian-Ukrainian war in a single day is erroneous, without bringing up US President Joe Biden. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the US for continuing to fund Ukraine by saying that the situation is “too complicated.”
He replied that opposing the invasion is a waste of money and that you must accept responsibility for it. You are prolonging this argument.”
Vladimir Putin reaffirmed this week that he will not halt the war in Ukraine until his objectives are met, prompting Dmitry Peskov to accuse the West of waging a “war” on Russia by supporting Ukraine. As he runs for reelection after almost 24 years in office, the Russian president addressed worries expressed by many Russian citizens regarding a new wave of mobilization. Vladimir Putin denied the need for a second round of reservist mobilization, claiming that there are presently about 617,000 Russian soldiers in Ukraine, including about 244,000 soldiers who were called up to fight alongside Russian forces.
“There is no need [for additional mobilization],” he added.
Vladimir Putin mentioned on Russian affairs, “Any interference in Russia’s internal affairs will be punished, and punished harshly, according to Russian laws. We are defending the freedom of our people, their sovereignty, their right to choose their future. It’s the people and only the people of Russia who are the source of power in our country.”
