During the IDF’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip, an Israeli soldier was liberated from Hamas custody, the military and the Shin Bet security agency said on Monday.
The soldier, named by the military as Ori Megidish, was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, according to the IDF. Since then, it added, she had undergone examinations and was “doing well.”
It didn’t go into detail on how she was released.
Member of Israel’s security cabinet and minister of energy Israel Katz stated on media platform X: “I want to send strength and congratulate the soldiers and commanders of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and Shin Bet for the bold operation.”
He did not elaborate more.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stated earlier that attempts were still being made to liberate the more than 200 captives that Hamas was holding during the ground war in Gaza that “creates opportunities to achieve their release and we will not miss them.”
