It’s official – Waterloo Road is getting back to our screens very nearly seven years after its 10 season run ended.
The loved school drama first dropped in 2006 and followed a troubled comprehensive school set in Rochdale, Lancashire.
Its wild storylines hooked viewers, and after being released as a box set on BBC iPlayer in 2019, the show has stayed well known among young audiences. It’s nothing unexpected then that the BBC chose to relaunch the show.
Waterloo Road potential release date: When will it air?
Sadly, an exact release date is yet to be announced. Yet, since the official Waterloo Road Instagram page posted an image uncovering its “class of 2022” cast back in February, we can expect it to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer eventually not long from now.
Waterloo Road cast: Who will be in it?
It was announced earlier that Angela Griffin will be reprising the character of Kim Campbell, yet this time she has been promoted from head of pastoral care to headteacher.
The actress said of her return: “I feel really honoured to be joining the new series of Waterloo Road. It is exciting to be stepping back into Kim’s shoes and I can’t wait to explore her life, character, and how she has evolved since we last met her. The writers have some amazing storylines planned and I’m looking forward to welcoming viewers back to Waterloo Road.”
“It’s bloody brilliant, she’s very different this time,” she told Daily Star. “What’s happened to Kim in the last six years? You’ll have to wait to find out when it comes back. She’s a different person, definitely. Things have happened, and it all comes out when we come back.”
